Installation instructions for PC-RESON
1) Create a directory to run RESON from:
C:
MD \RESON
CD \RESON
2) Copy the contents of the distribution floppy to the directory:
COPY A:\*.*
3) Run RESON on one of the sample cases to test installation, such
as the quarter-wave resonator case:
RESON qwave1
Changes from beta version 0.95b to version 1.00
1) The manual has been thoroughly revised and edited.
2) Energy reporting functions have been changed from (T, E, H) to
(U, Ue, Uh) respectively.
3) The Capacitor model now includes losses if a Q is specified.
Capacitors are now modeled as a ideal capacitor in parallel with a
resistor.
4) The Inductor model now includes losses if a Q is specified.
Inductors are now modeled as a ideal inductor in series with a resistor.
5) The Transmission line model now uses the "unsimplified" lossy
transmission line equations. The simplified lossy transmission line
equations given in all texts we have seen is invalid for capacitively
loaded transmission lines irregardless of how low the losses are!!! We
unwittingly discovered this in testing and were confused for some time.
See "Resonant Impedance of Transmission Lines" by L. S. Nergaard, in
the Proceedings of the I.R.E., September, 1939. Note that we don't
even make the approximations used in this paper!
6) A .COUPLE command has been added.
7) A .SHUNT command has been added.
8) The example given is now a sequence of Qwave1, Qwave2, rlc,
showing the sequence from initial analysis to coupled equvalent circuit
analysis.
9) Some bugs have been fixed in the .OUTPUT command.
10) Energy was mistakenly reported with units of KVA versus VA.
